Description

“The idea of a flagon is interesting to me. They have a timeless, ancient quality to them. People of every culture have contained liquids in ceramic vessels, flagons or amphorae for millennia. The large flagons are made from high-fired earthenware, one with repeat stamps pushed into it. I like that the larger surface areas become a canvas for the stamps and the glaze. The difference in scale compared to my usual practice has resulted in something bolder. I don’t tend to think of my pots as anthropomorphic, but there is a personality in the flagons with the difference in shape of the hips.” Joshua Williams
