Knotted Basket Kits
Eve Eunson£36.00
Description
Eve’s basket kits are a wonderful way of introducing people to the materials and technique involved in knotting a rope basket. This is an endangered craft – the same distinct technique has been used for centuries to make Fair Isle Strawback chairs, which Eve has doggedly chronicled and kept alive. Her basket kits sow the seeds for future Fair Isle knotters. Each kit contains an instruction booklet (with an introduction to the history of the Fair Isle Strawback chair), a basket base, jute string, natural fibre rope and a large darning needle. The finished basket is a handy household object or a present with a powerful story embedded within. A gift that keeps on giving, no less. The basket shown is an example of what you can make with the kit.
Kit. Height 6cm, width 24cm, depth 19cm.
Basket once made. Height 8cm, diameter 15cm.
