Iona's stoneware lamp bases are each inspired by the things she finds on her Hebridean coastal walks. The young designer bases her forms on moods rather than literal reincarnations of the objects that catch her eye. She builds bases by hand and also handmakes the glazes under her grandmother's tuition, before firing them in her grandmother's kiln. This inky blue creation has the feeling of a strange treasure found deep in a rockpool. Its mottled blue glaze could belong to a lobster, or a rogue and beautiful piece of shipwreck flotsam.
