Description

‘This pair of objects tread the line between function and decoration, using a pared-back monumentalism to create an unexpected sense of scale and presence,’ James explains. ‘Both objects use the same metallic, weathered glaze which evokes ancient industrial artefacts or long-buried religious relics, but their cartoonish forms suggest much more everyday domestic objects. I'm interested in the relationship between the architecture of domestic spaces and the objects that they contain; how monumental scale, material and form can add new meaning to ordinary objects.’
