Jeni Allison is interested in the tensions of innovation and tradition, where technology and craft collide. Her Green Digital Drape blankets were designed using a 3D simulation to visualise the wrapping of fabric around a Doric column. The image was converted into a knittable file and then jacquard knitted into physical, lambswool blankets. The result has a fascinating character, subtly playing with our optical and tactile perceptions and expectations. The genius of mind, hand and machine working together to comfort, provoke and delight in equal measure.
