Description

‘One year ago, when I was looking for a toilet roll holder for my newly renovated flat,’ says Juli: ‘I used materials in my studio and the first (wonky) toilet roll holder came to life. I have extended that prototype into a series for Bard. My starting point was the coloured glass rods donated by the Glass Department at Edinburgh College of Art years ago. This project was done in partnership with Old School Fabrications, design and build specialists, who make objects, interiors and structures for creative and commercial clients. They kindly invited me to do a short residency, allowing me to rummage through their workshops off–cuts bins to create the series. The bins were full of peculiar shapes of lovely wood, metal, wire and they helped me with the fabrication once I had decided on the assemblages.’
