LaKrista’s iron-rich, tenmoku-inspired, wood ash glaze has mesmerising depths that are beautifully captured in the gently rippling shallows of this generous platter. The liquidity of the reflective glaze flows through reddish tones to dark browns into black. Teal blue flecks add a splash of phosphorescence to proceedings. It’s perhaps no surprise to learn that LaKrista is a scientist as well as a potter. She brings her alchemical expertise to full force on her glaze development and her Light through Dark Water series is art and science together in perfect harmony. Magic, even.
