Description
‘I’m interested by mass production and the tension between mass-made and handmade,’ Morven says. ‘I made these wood-fired stoneware candlesticks while on a residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop. I didn’t talk to anyone and was listening to podcasts about Elon Musk, so my head was filled with ideas of production, validity and maleness. I piped these out of a mortar gun, playing with the idea of myself as a human 3D printer. I like the collapsed curviness of it all and I like dunking things in lots of glazes. You can wedge candles into the gaps and melt them in wherever you like.’
