Description

The Black House Stools are a new family of handy, leggy perches by furniture maker Jack Sheahan in collaboration with Bard. Each stool is handmade from Scottish ash, stained with Indian ink and finished with beeswax.

The characterful forms are inspired by a Scottish 19th century black pine fireside stool with six drawn legs, which we had on show at Bard when we opened. Jack was smitten by its charismatic, creature-like persona and also by the freehand process of its creation. His own interpretations are intuitive and spontaneous in their design and construction, defying established rules of chair design. While the family shares a sense of playfulness and warmth, each stool has its own individual personality and, just like people, no two stools are identical.

The stools are made to order with a short lead time of three weeks or less. We hold stock of a small number, so please get in touch if you want to confirm what we have available for immediate dispatch.
