Vessel

Description

Inspired by animist mythologies and ancient artefacts, Viv’s hand-built vessels and objects have talismanic properties. Each piece carries its own quiet story; a thread connecting the artist to ancestral memory, place, and the deeper rhythms of life. In Viv’s words: ‘These works of devotional ware are influenced by ancient Han Chinese spirit objects and my exploration into self-mythology and belonging. They represent symbolic vessels for transformation where the process of making becomes a means of entwining my own story with the story of the land.’ Each work is made from self-foraged Scottish wild clay, hand built by the coiling method, and fired several times to achieve their complex surfaces.
