Viv Lee first imagined these evocative creatures into existence as part of our second year anniversary exhibition, A Scottish Enlightenment.  After the first whisper of moths soon fluttered away, she has since created a new cluster.

These candle-holding spirits are beguiling companions - intricate, shadowy forms that have flown in from another land and time. Ancient, powerful presences, all.

In Viv’s words: “The pieces are made using a variety of hand building techniques followed by the application of several layers of slips, engobes, underglazes and oxides, and repeated firings to bring out the varied textures and colours.”
