Description

Viv Lee’s coil built stoneware vessels have an otherworldly, anthropomorphic beauty. The Glasgow-based ceramicist speaks about her interest in pre-historic forms, a deep spiritual connection to earth and the body, and the sensory experiences and ephemera gathered from life in the deep time of the Scottish wild. These influences filter into Lee’s subconscious allowing her intuitive process of coiling and pinching to take over. The individual forms that emerge feel compelling, intimate and universal, simultaneously. They hold their own alone, standing strident; as a group, they become a gaggle of characters with their hands in their pockets or on their hips.

Note: Due to the clays used, these pieces may not be 100% watertight. Should you wish to fill them with water we advise placing them on a protective surface.
