Description

In response to a call-out for Scottish clay, Cara was given some earthenware clay by Mary Arnold Forster Architects, found on one of their sites on the wildly romantic Knoydart peninsula on the West Coast. Cara has since been developing the clay in collaboration with the architects.

Cara used some of the Knoydart terracotta as tile trivets for our Bardware collection. The tiles have a variety of handy uses around the home, from trivets to coasters to decorative objects in their own right. ‘I have used a serrated kidney and small circle template to make a harvest moon design on each tile, responding to the time of year they were made and a comment on the extraction of material from our land" Cara says.

Medium: Length 12cm, width 12cm, height 1.5cm.

Large: Length 14.5cm, width 14cm, height 1.8cm.
