Deeply committed to enduring design, Scottish craftsmanship and the natural world, Araminta Campbell creates heirloom-quality pieces that are much more than beautiful - they are narratives woven into fabric.
The brand's ethos is focused on supporting local industry and creating beautiful pieces that will last a lifetime.
What does Scottishness mean to you?
I feel so fortunate to be Scottish: we have so much to be inspired by. Having grown up amidst the riverbanks and hills of Royal Deeside, the Scottish landscape inspires everything that I design and we make, from the layers of Scotland’s weaving history to the naturally derived colours to our organic motifs. The brand’s roots are firmly grounded in Scotland; this is our home. Every Araminta Campbell piece is an ode to Scotland. To be part of a rich lineage of artisans delivering exceptional textiles, using centuries of Scottish skills that have been handed down over generations, is an honour, and one that I feel driven to help sustain. It is our mission to preserve heritage skills, rural suppliers and talented craftspeople of Scotland, to ensure the authentic excellence of ‘Made in Scotland’ continues well into the future.
What role does craft have in daily life?
Beautifully crafted things stand the test of time. An object inspired by nature, created using age-old weaving skills by the weavers at the mills, using beautiful, traceable fibre from happy animals – all these layers of story and effort create connections that drive us to treasure the object for generations. It’s not about saving precious things for ‘best’, but having them by your side, wrapping them around you, holding them close, so that you find delight in the everyday. Coming into contact with beautifully crafted things enriches us, fills us with appreciation for the human hands that made them and connects us with objects in an age of disposability.
