Tay House Tapestry
Laura Lees£33,600.00
Description
“This was my graduation piece from DJCAD in Dundee. I worked on it for four months and loved every thread. The word Akai alone took me three solid days. It is based on Tay House, which was right beside the train station and has now been knocked down. It was a landmark for us, and landmarks and iconography were a big part of my work at college. I tuned in and out of different places like radio frequency, hence the bands on the tapestry; BBC Burberry and Radio Roid are made-up stations and shorthand for things we found hilarious at the time. I was obsessed with Burberry. I still am. I remember sitting high-up on my stool working on the tapestry, looking out over the Tay feeling that across that body of water a whole world of opportunity was waiting for me.”
The exhibition will be held complete until June 18th. Purchases will be shipped after this date.
Dimensions: 125cm x 180cm
